Pop-up Shop & Outdoor Space Design

Design Team | Madeenah

Design of Pop-up shop and outdoor space at the Nuqat Design Conference, situated at the Dar Al Athar Al-Islamiyyah Centre. The brief requested the design of a flexible interactive pop-up shop that allowed for multiple display and storage solutions, and could be easily locked up during the three day event. The design proposed a light timber-framed cube, with operable panels that swing open to facilitate different levels of access and display. Canvas tent textile was utilised on the wall panels, for the roofing structure of the shop and for the canopies that were strung across the courtyard space. The outdoor space during the event would house food trucks and a large screen to project the lectures taking place in the auditorium inside. Therefore, the proposed communal area included shading, and furniture that encouraged interaction, seating, working and dining. This was achieved through a series of wooden tables running along the length of the space with benches designed with back-to-back seating options, either against the table or facing outwards.
